Biohazard

Biohazard, a very limited edition piece by Fiona Parkinson. This stunning edition features Orange-Barred Sulphur and Papilio Iswara butterflies and reflects upon the relationship between ourselves, our planet and its species. It comprises of perfectly preserved butterflies cut into an intricate design and displayed in a stunning hand-made triangular frame.

“At times the past 12 months (in lockdown) have made us feel like we are locking ourselves away from the threat that nature poses to our families, at other times it is nature that seems to have been given a break from us! Either way my sense of connection to and dependency on other people and species that I share this planet with has been heightened and I am resolved to develop a new relationship with it in the future.”

Very few editions of this piece will be made available through Fiona’s Cabinet, primarily it will be used for display in galleries, each edition is made by Fiona and is unique due to the beautiful natural variation in the butterflies being used.
